Forome Association and Forome Platform were established by several key members of Prof. Sunyaev computational genomics laboratory at the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Harvard Medical School to promote the integrated program for undiagnosed rare diseases gene discovery. The opensource genomics platform was initially developed for the Brigham Health Genomics Medicine program and now is publically offered to other prominent healthcare and clinical research institutions.Mission statement.Solving genetic cases via broad collaboration with the research community and crowdsourcing benefits patients lows costs for healthcare providers and promotes research through discovering more clinically valid genes. Access to precision medicine is currently restricted to a handful of patients lucky enough to have access to exclusive prominent institutions.Whole genome sequencing will become a routine clinical practice in the next 5 years for monogenic and polygenic diseases. Forome platform helps to democratize the clinical research process for the complex hereditary diseases where traditional genomic protocols and analytical pipelines fail to deliver.
