Foster Dreamz was dreamt up by a child of foster carers with over 10 years of volunteer experience. It was inspired by the stories and lives of the children that had touched the hearts of her family. Watching just a handful of the approximately 50,000 children in Out-of-home care in Australia struggle to realise their strengths, engage and be accepted by the wider community, Foster Dreamz became her dream. It encompassed allowing foster children to excel, engage, develop a range of skills and to see a future beyond the foster care system and the appalling statistics stacked up against them from overrepresentation in substance abuse and homelessness to incarceration. Foster Dreamz works to pair children in Out-of-home care with extra-curricular activities and help fund the necessary equipment.
