The Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba ("FHRC") is a 501(c)3 non-profit established in 1992 to promote a non-violent transition to a democratic Cuba and empowering independent Civil Society organizations within Cuba. The FHRC maintains regular contact with non-violent activists inside Cuba and their supporters. Some of these groups include prisoners of conscience and their families, independent journalists and Bloggers, cultural activists, self-employed, independent unions and marginalized sectors.Our Vision:Empower Cuban Civil Society to build a durable democracy in CubaOur Mission:1. Enhance on-Island activists groups' (under the communist regime) awareness and effectiveness in strategic non-violent activism2. Facilitate on-Island Civil Society with civic training material, communication equipment, subject "know-how" (e.g., entrepreneurialism, micro-financing, etc.) and financial support3. Create awareness and document, within the Island and in the international community, human rights violations and Cuban Civil Society building efforts4. Collaborate with international and on-Island non-government organizations to provide for additional expertise and resources5. Humanitarian aid
