The Foundation for IT Sustainability is a Not-For-Profit Organisation that is devoted to engaging and educating individuals and corporations regarding the environmental footprint of technology. FFITS.Org believes in utilizing the power of knowledge and awareness in order to assist individuals and corporations in reducing greenhouse gas emissions produced by technology.Originally founded by Mark Winter in 2007 as the Computers Off Australia initiative, the campaign ran behind the Light Off Australia campaign (now known as Earth Hour). This Australian based initiative, evolved into ComputersOff.Org in 2008 as it spread its reach to the international market.The campaign was re-branded to the Foundation for IT Sustainability (FFITS.Org) in 2010 as the organization began building its roots as a Not-For-Profit Organisation, ready to reach out to the global market.FFITS.Org believes that technology plays a vital role to the world today. Technology may currently be leaving a negative environmental footprint to our world as we know it, but by educating people and empowering them to use it as a tool to help the environment – we hope to yield the positive effects that technology may bring to the environment.
