Founded in 2015, Fourth Wall Cinema has been hosting free educational screenings to the New York University community every week. Our mission is to:1) Challenge and diversify the film canon through our curated programming of international cinema from under-represented voices and perspectives.2) Reinvigorate moviegoing by building a passionate student community, hosting guest speakers and advance screenings, and projecting on 16mm film when possible.3) Provide convenient on-campus access to all NYU students and faculty, considering that not everyone can routinely afford the great repertory cinemas of New York City.During our 4 years, we have partnered with many local independent distributors to host advance screenings (e.g. MUBI, Kino Lorber, Zeitgeist Films, Cheng Cheng Films), as well as coordinated notable guest speakers and director Q&As (e.g. Ryuichi Sakamoto, Samuel Jamier, Matías Piñeiro, Huang Hsin-yao).
