Founded in 1972 by Franco Ambrogi, Franco's Fine Clothier has evolved into an iconic men's specialty retailer. Initially known as a purveyor of quality suits and expert tailoring by their in-house tailors, Franco's has become know for its exceptional array of tailored clothing, sportswear, footwear and outdoor apparel for men. Men enjoy finding one of the widest assortment of men's specialty store brands in America and is known for it's attention to quality at every level. The Franco's story began in Tuscany, Italy in 1946 when a young Franco Ambrogi learned to sew from his mother at the age of 6. In fifth grade, he worked in a tailor shop, and by the age of 15 Franco emigrated to Richmond. In Richmond, Franco quickly found work in a small tailor shop, and then at a venerable southern department store chain called Thalhimers. Eventually he fetched up at the upscale specialty retailer Berry-Burk. By his early thirties, he had married his wife Ruth, started a family and began supplementing the family income by tailoring in his garage.
