Nonprofit Organization Management - Cambria, California, United States
Free & Equal Elections Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organization, whose mission is to shift the power back to the individual voter through educating the public, which will result in more independent candidates being elected. We seek to build an elections database including candidate information on federal, state and local levels, allowing voters to find information on a candidate's history, past voting record, and political donations from special interest groups. Our database will be paired with our brand new website, which will feature a coalition of similar freedom-minded groups and vetted organizations who are committed to fighting special interests and corporations. During the 2012 elections, Free & Equal hosted an open presidential debate on Oct. 23 at the Hilton Chicago, moderated by broadcast legend Larry King. All six top Presidential candidates were invited. Those choosing to participate in the debate represented the Libertarian, Green, Justice and Constitution parties. A second debate was held on the eve of Election Day in Washington, D.C. The debates were broadcast worldwide on C-SPAN, MSNBC, CNN Radio, RT America, Al Jazeeera, as well as live on OraTV, YouTube, and the Free & Equal website with an estimated viewing audience of 20 million! Free & Equal trended in the Top 10 on Twitter! The debates brought attention to the real issues facing our country including foreign policy, the economy, and civil rights, rather than topics that divide us as a nation. Free & Equal hosted presidential debates both in 2012 and in 2008. These events were the only presidential debates featuring independent and third party candidates to be broadcast live to a nationwide audience. This May, Free & Equal will host the United We Stand Festival. Please visit http://www.UnitedWeStandFest.com for more info.
