Established in 1991, the French Centre for Research on Contemporary China (CEFC) is a Joint Unit of the French Research Institute Overseas (UMIFRE18), supported by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS) with a mission to study political, economic, social and cultural developments in People's Republic China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.The centre is based in Hong Kong with a branch office in Taipei (Academia Sinica) since 1994, and a joint centre at Tsinghua University, Beijing, the Sino-French Academic Centre, since 2014.The CEFC is closely linked with locals academic and intellectual networks, thanks to its cooperation agreements with institutions in Hong Kong, Taipei, Macau and PRC.The CEFC is the publisher of China Perspectives (and its sister French publication, Perspectives Chinoises, a quarterly internationally recognised academic journal (SSCI), funded in 1995 which also focuses on contemporary political, social, economic and cultural evolutions of the PRC, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.The journal is available in 8 international databases (including EBSCO, Informit, JStor, ProQuest, OpenEdition...) and on our website.
