Based in Stellenbosch, South Africa, Danie Kieviet Sr founded Freshworld Pty Ltd in 2001 with the goal of creating direct customer relationships and providing equitable, sustainable returns to growers while maintaining responsible and transparent business practices. Freshworld Pty Ltd's focus has always been to serve the programmed customer by becoming specialists in providing exactly what the customer needs. Freshworld is committed to packing containers in direct accordance with a customer's sizing and quality specifications and delivering it directly to the end receiver. When in 2008 Freshworld Pty Ltd began looking for an avenue through which to create direct program business in the Canadian market, they looked to the recently formed McKnight Insights & Solutions and President Wayne McKnight. With over thirty years of experience in the produce industry and retail programming, Wayne and his team became the facilitators of Freshworld's Canadian retail trade program. Over three years the Canadian program business grew with great success and in early 2010, McKnight founded Freshworld International Inc. Not an importer and not a middleman or marketing agent, Freshworld International instead serves as the domestic vehicle for communication and information between Canadian customers and the South African growers. The Freshworld International team manages the forecasting and inventory aspect of importing South African product as well as strategic customer sales and promotions.
