At Friction Shift Projects, we are fascinated by the questions within communities - the friction questions that matter most: Who has voice? How do people move around and share public space? How do we create home? What are our options for growth? We don't shy away from the tough conversations. Our mission is to build equitable places. Our work is driven by the belief that leveraging community friction for positive change is how we gather momentum to move forward together. FSP is an urban and active transportation planning practice based in Asheville, NC. Kristy Carter, AICP, founded FSP after 20 years of public and private sector community work. We take on planning projects that make an equitable difference in a community's active transportation network, healthy built environment, the voices engaged in community discussion, and the way we use graphics and data to tell stories.
