Friend of the Sea is an international certification program for products from sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. Over 1000 companies in more than 80 countries have relied on Friend of the Sea to assess the sustainability of their seafood origins. Audits, based on best and most updated available scientific data, are run by accredited independent certification bodies. Friend of the Sea also certifies other products and services which respect the marine habitat: sustainable UV Creams which to not impact the coral reef; sustainable shipping; sustainable ornamental fish species and public aquaria; sustainable whale and dolphin watching; sustainable beaches; sustainable salt, seaweed; sustainable restaurants. Friend of the Sea conservation projects and campaigns aim at protecting endangered species and habitats.
