Friends in High Places is a not-for-profit project supporting the people of Langtang, Nepal who lost their homes, livelihoods and loved ones in the 2015 earthquake. We connect people and places.We are a real life social network, connecting people from around the world. From Scottish cheese makers, English farmers and Australian bakers to Yak farming families in the high Himalayas. The premise is simple, we all have something to give, whether it is knowledge , a skill, time, money or seed potatoes to help a family become self sufficient.Or goal is to help rebuild lives and reignite livelihoods, to:educateempoweremployWe're improving access to education, helping to provide new opportunities, from sponsoring children to attend school to training young men and women as guides and porters or teaching yak farmers how to make cheese. We are connecting people in this tiny pocket of the Himalayas with new friends around the world, exchanging skills and setting up micro businesses, giving locals access to new markets. We are employing locals as guides, porters, hosts and cooking teachers.
