Civic & Social Organization - Stuart, Florida, United States
Pink Tie Friends, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) public charity formed by a dynamic, vibrant group of cancer patients, survivors and supporters who have joined together to make a difference along Florida's Treasure Coast. Inspired by the compassionate, competent care she received while being treated for Stage 3 breast cancer, Treasure Coast resident Nancy O'Neill wanted to do something to give back. Women and men newly diagnosed with breast cancer who lack adequate health insurance were identified as a critical need. Nancy conceived the idea of a calendar featuring local breast cancer patients and survivors who portray strength, determination, courage and hope. The idea of a gala to debut the calendar and promote knowledge and awareness soon followed. The community responded. Never in her wildest dreams did Nancy think that one idea could impact so many lives! Since 2005, Pink Tie Friends, Inc. volunteers and supporters have raised funds and awareness through the annual Calendar, Pink Tie Gala, and Friendship Luncheon. Portions of the funds raised have helped more than 60 women and men in Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River counties overcome the financial burden of their treatment. The future is brighter because of the caring attitude and strong commitment of so many. Our Mission is to provide financial support to individuals newly diagnosed with breast cancer that are uninsured or under-insured. Our Vision is that the strength and longevity of the organization will continue to grow, will enhance lives, and will replace the anguish of individuals who fear they will not be able to afford treatment for breast cancer with comfort and hope.
