Friends of Akron School for the Arts Details
We are a non-profit organization created to support the Akron School for the Arts and the Arts in the greater Akron community. We were founded in 2007 as Advocates for the Akron Visual and Performing Arts, and we have provided over $10,000 in funding for arts programming and scholarships in the past 11 years. However, with the changes in the Akron Public Schools and the Academy programming, the School for the Arts curriculum is changing. Students in that program will incorporate work-training or internships into their senior year. Our organization aims to be there for these students and connect them to a network of advocates and people who work in the arts both locally and across the country. So while we will still provide funding for teacher's "wish lists", we will also be available to help provide contacts for these students.We hope you will consider becoming a part of our organization, whether through a monetary donation, inclusion in our arts network database, or even to join our board!
