Friends of The Australian Ballet Details
Established in 1973, The Friends of the Australian Ballet is a not-for-profit organisation supporting The Australian Ballet and The Australian Ballet School financially. We aim to make ballet accessible to all and provide our members access to unique ballet experiences, such as:•Attendance at The Australian Ballet final dress rehearsals•Attendance at Behind the Scenes events•Access to programs and special events including Forums and Talks by dance and theatre specialists and practitioners•Film Screenings of International Dance events•Welcome reception for the new dancers – an exclusive opportunity for friends to meet and support the dancers new to the company•Brunch – an opportunity to celebrate dance and ballet with current and former stars of the ballet•Cocktail functions and luncheons with special guests from The Australian Ballet alumni.Since its inception in 1973, the Friends has:•Sold over ½ million tickets to members for The Australian Ballet dress rehearsals•Donated several million of dollars in support of The Australian Ballet•Presented over 800 events•Held 70 major eventsEach year the Friends raise funds for special projects for The Australian Ballet and sell in excess of 3,000 tickets to The Australian Ballet dress rehearsals at the Sydney Opera House.The Friends is also committed to the development of new talent, by providing scholarships for dancers with The Australian Ballet Company and students of The Australian Ballet School.
