From Street To School Details
From Street to School is a charitable organisation, with a purpose of helping children street workers in Afghanistan in order to get an education, likewise to complete primary school. The organisation was founded in 2011 and merely in six years, FSTS has managed to send 57 children street workers to school. There has been created five local associations across Denmark and a daughter-organisation in Norway. The organisation consists of more than 120 volunteers who all actively and ambitiously work to develop the purpose of the organisation in order to help a greater amount of street children in Afghanistan and their families. By donating a monthly contribution of 400 kr. you are able to secure an education to an afghan child, while also providing the security and a better life quality of the child and its family. To achieve the organisation's purpose in the best way possible, FSTS arranges different projects frequently in the form of various events. These events are held to fundraise with the purpose of expanding the organisation's work in several areas in Afghanistan and also to increase the number of children in the program. In addition to helping and supporting street children in Afghanistan, FSTS also arranges a winter-project almost every year to help internally displaced families living in refugee camps in Afghanistan through the harsh winter. The winter in Afghanistan is extremely tough and due to poverty thousands of Afghans lack the basic necessities such as food and blankets. The yearly winter-project is held in the form of a nationwide fundraising, where volunteers stand all around in Denmark fundraising to help and support the Afghan families through the tough and harsh winter. In the year of 2013, FSTS collected enough money to help more than 500 families in a refugee camp in Kabul and in the year 2014, we aimed to help 760 more families. This year, 2016, we aimed to collect 142.800 DKK helping more than 800 families with rice and blankets.
