Founded in 1993 as a response to concerns about global deforestation, the FSC® - Forest Stewardship Council® is a pioneering forum that brings together voices from the northern and southern hemispheres to define environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management and identify tools that promote positive and lasting change, respecting forests and the people who inhabit them - in more than 45 countries.FSC Switzerland was founded in 2003 by representatives of the forestry and timber industry, retail trade companies, environmental and social associations and other interested parties. As an official FSC Network Partner in Switzerland, it aims to implement the mission of FSC International to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management in the Swiss context.
