The Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell Cutting-Edge Research Center (FC-Cubic) was established as a direct sponsored research by the Fuel Cell Promotion Office of Agency of Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in 2005. The young enthusiastic researchers got together from outside of our research organization, AIST, so that it was formed from the zero-based position. Since the inauguration on April 1, 2005, we had tried re-constructing the laboratory with a high level of security and safety, securing enthusiastic researchers, who acquired Ph.D. and introducing special apparatus. It was realized to answer the strong requests from industrial community, related with fuel cell technologies, and to accept the passion for promoting fuel cells to practical use by Japanese government (METI). FC-Cubic started full-scale researching the phenomenon analysis in fuel cells in the fiscal year of 2006. Supported by many parties around us, we have been able to announce our research results since the latter half of 2007. We will do our utmost to live up to industry's expectations. Since April, 2008, this project has been entrusted to New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) as Fuel Cell Cutting-edge Scientific Research Project.
