Food Production - Troy, Michigan, United States
Our StoryFirst conceived by University of Michigan student Adithya Sanjay, the concept behind Fulle was one that spawned out of a desire for more diversified and healthier food in the fast-food industry. Today's food market is overly saturated with packaged and processed foods as can be seen with the dominance of frozen meals - not to mention fast food giants such as McDonalds, Burger King, and Taco Bell. And with research that has shown time and time again the health benefits that come with eating freshly-prepared homemade meals, it was exceedingly evident that change had to happen. In order to accomplish this, Adithya initially tried to implement a food-sharing concept that allows individuals to sell home-made food. While it was an idea that seemed quite easy in concept, the legalities behind it were quite restrictive. And so, searching for a pivot that would still achieve the goals of the company, Adithya stumbled upon a pain point that exists in the lives of many aspiring chefs - the high barriers to entry in the culinary industry that exist in the form of physical capital. It turned out that there were many individuals quite interested in selling their creations, but didn't have the resources or time to put down the large amounts of money required to operate a brick and mortar restaurant.Fulle is a food-startup that attempts to create a network of "online" or "delivery-only" restaurants. The concept connects aspiring, amateur, and home chefs with local certified kitchens and gives them an online platform to sell their food, thereby eliminating the costs needed to rent a physical restaurant. At the same time, it creates a large marketplace of restaurants selling authentic, diversified, and locally-made meals, making it easier to buy healthy food on demand. In this way, Fulle attempts to not only revolutionize the fast-food market, but also to affect change in the barriers that prevent chefs from being able to sell their food.
