There are dozens of recognized denominations of Christian churches across the United States. One of the small, but more vocal branches is called Free Will Baptists who currently have about a quarter-million members. Who are Free Will Baptists? The Free Will Baptists are a collection of churches in the same denomination that share the Arminian theology that includes free grace, free will, and free salvation. Free Will Baptists share some of the same soteriological views with other Baptist groups such as the Separate Baptists, United Baptists, and General Baptists. The emphasis is on self-governance and evangelicalism in the local church which is primarily found in the southern and some Midwest states in the US, although the movement was once very strong in the New England area for some time.
