The process of mycocycling waste materials with fungi involves training it to breakdown the hydrocarbon bonds of a specific toxic pollutant or waste material. The waste is recycled and fused together by cultivating the mycelium (the root network) of the fungi, which can be grown into a moulded form. The resulting composite material is lightweight, fire retardant, buoyant and insulating. We accept industrial, agricultural and manufacturing offcuts for processing and produce grown to order Mycomaterials for packaging, insulation and construction. Did you know more than 7 billion cigarette butts are littered into Australia's environment every year where they immediately begin leaching damaging pollutants into waterways and soil systems. By collaborating with Fungi we want to remove 100, 000 toxic cigarette butts from our ecosystems . We are remediating this challenging microplastic with a targeted fungi strain called MYC.
