Civic & Social Organization - Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India
FURN India is an early stage social enterprise, committed to building a community that fulfills the vital needs of the underprivileged by sustainably leveraging surplus resources through its ingenious offerings. The WhyAll of us, at one time or the other, have seen food being wasted - at a gathering, in a canteen or at our own home. However, what if we could collect this food and distribute it to the not to so fortunate among us?It was with this aim that we, a group of students from IIM, DCE, and NSIT decided to join hands and come up with a community-driven solution to combat hunger and malnutrition, the leading cause of death in India. The HowWe are creating community involvement and encouraging the privileged to provide the surplus. Our local chapters are run by friends and colleagues who hope to create a difference in their own small way. We perform this in three ways: a) Community Involvementb) Schools: The Power of ‘One'c) Corporate Involvement as part of CSRThe ResultsOperational in 3 cities, 20 drives conducted and 8,500 nutritious meals served. We also have successfully tied up with 20 residential colonies, schools and colleges. Successfully partnered with organizations including Aashray Adhikar Abhiyan, DHL, Homecredit, Sardar Patel Public School and Renu's Bread Bakers' Club. All this within a span of 9 months of operations. Our mission is to engender a movement that moves to build a world where hunger and illness are fleeting, and people can earn their livelihood with dignity and are free from all means of exploitation. We aim to achieve our mission through the pillars of development: Feed, Uplift, Rescue, and Nurture. These four pillars coupled with other prevalent ideas also find a place in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.Contact us at: furnindia.org@gmail.comhttps://www.furnindia.org/https://www.facebook.com/furnindiahttps://www.instagram.com/f.u.r.n
