Founded in April 2009 as an extension to their world renowned chef school, The Fusion Cooking School, Chefs Shaun Smith & Caryn England host Fusion World Food Café where the former AKA & theStore restaurants once stood in the ever-vibey Silvervause Centre on the Berea.Shaun, ex-regional chef of Woolworths, and Caz, ex-Executive chef of Quarters Hotel, are co-principals of The Fusion Cooking School in Westville and their global, trendy, modern, health-conscious cuisine showcases the very best of world food flavours with strong Asian influence & elements of molecular gastronomy (as even demonstrated on TopBilling TV). This unique and highly innovative establishment, run by a passionate and dedicated team of principals, lecturers, past and present students from The Fusion Cooking School, is famed for truly unique offerings such as super-tender Beef Fillet cooked in a dishwasher and Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream created tableside in front of your very own eyes! Vegetarian, Venison & Fish dishes also feature strongly as does a Platinum award-wining winelist, including the only certified wine in KZN from Abingdon Estate in Lions River in the Midlands. There are also a large range of brandies, whiskies and single malts to choose from.
