Non-Profit - New York, NY, US
Founded in 1989 by French Countess Albina du Boisrouvray, FXB is a non-governmental organization with a 27-year history of breaking the cycle of extreme poverty. Our mission is to provide the poorest of the poor families with the tools and support they need to become self-sufficient and give their children a future. \\We are globally active. We have different programs in 12 countries, including Burundi, China, Colombia, India, Mongolia, Myanmar, Niger, Rwanda, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand and Uganda, with a team of 450 staff members. \\We don't give people microloans. We give them in-kind grants, because microcredit is not the cure for extreme poverty. The high interest rate can easily crush financially vulnerable families. We don't just hand people money, because money comes and goes. We hand them a multidimensional solution to permanently escape extreme poverty – the FXBVillage Model. It delivers the five drivers of poverty eradication and provides integrated support in health, education, nutrition, and housing to meet the immediate needs of the poorest of the poor families while building their business capacity to become economically self-sufficient.\\Over the years, this proven methodology has empowered more than 82,000 children and adults to lift themselves out of poverty through 165 FXBVillage programs. 86% of participating families remained self-sufficient four years after the program's end. 17 million children and adults have benefited from the presence of FXB in their community through sustainable community development, infrastructure rehabilitation, education, prevention, awareness and access to water and sanitation. The FXBVillage Model has been recognized by UNICEF and UNAIDS as a "best practice."\\If you are passionate about global development and poverty eradication, get involved with FXB International today!
