Government R&D tax credits are available to qualifying Canadian corporations doing innovative work or solving technical challenges in their day to day work. The program is called SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development). It is administered by a standalone group within CRA. In 2018, over $2 billion was awarded to 18,000 Canadian companies. That is the biggest R&D credit program in the government. It dwarfs dedicated R&D programs like IRAP or NSERC and is about 5 times the size of RESP credits disbursed. Start-ups who have incorporated in Canada and who have staff on a regular payroll are a particularly well-served group under this program. Your qualifying expenses (payroll, prototype materials and qualifying subcontractors) attract credits at well over double the rates paid to large corporations. Also, all credits are paid to you in cash. You do not need to show profits to qualify for SR&ED. If you answer yes to any of the following questions, you probably qualify for funding:• Have you developed any new products, or developed enhanced features to existing products? • Have you built any prototypes? • Have you developed any technology to increase productivity or efficiency in your business? G6 is a specialist whose sole business since 2008 has been assisting companies to earn SR&ED credits. G6 customers vary from manufacturers, engineering firms, software firms to start-ups. We prepare and submit the entire claim at no upfront cost to you, provide all schedules and summary material to your accountant, act as your agent with the government for any reviews etc. G6 gets paid on a contingency basis only after you get your government cheque. G6 is directed and owned by Greg Hills. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's, where he graduated on the Dean's List. Greg also has an MBA from the Ivey Business School. Providing services to our customers along with Greg are two other long-time SR&ED practitioners.
