Galerie Hugues Charbonneau fosters the individual practices of its artists, and expands theoretical discourse through the contextualization of projects within and outside of the gallery walls. Over the past five years, artists represented by the gallery have exhibited in museums and biennales, including those in Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Britain, Canada, China, Finland, France, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Switzerland and the USA. Hugues Charbonneau started his professional career in the arts at Esse magazine. He served on the Board of Directors of multiple non-profits, including the Centre for Urban Research in Montréal (CRUM), Skol, Artexte and the Contemporary Art Gallery Association (AGAC). He sat on the jury of the 2015 RBC Painting Competition and will be a judge of the 2017 BMO 1st ART competition. \
