The Wenger Gallery specializes in current constructivism trends and in abstract, concrete and conceptual art. Anna Wenger, who founded her gallery in 2012, is fascinated by the power of reduction in achieving the fullest expression through minimal interventions and generating opacity despite clearly set and strictly geometrical gestures.Apart from classical exponents, her gallery exhibits works bordering on the limits of such trends, often adopting completely independent viewpoints. She is particularly interested in initiating dialogue through juxtapositioning, and opening up related trends to promote discourse on developments and limits in established forms of expression. Each year five to six exhibitions are held in the gallery. The diversified programme, which apart from paintings, drawings and sculptures also includes venue-specific room installations by national as well as international artists, enables new comparisons to be made in a special way. Key themes are artistic engagement with colour, visual and spatial expression through gradation and layering, and setting challenges to habits of perception. In parallel to the various exhibitions, extracurricular events are held several times each year to promote personal contact and discussion. The Wenger Gallery is located at Mühlebachstrasse 12 in Zurich, not far from the Opera and only two minutes walk from Stadelhofen train station.
