Galileoscope LLC was founded to supply high quality, low cost telescopes for the International Year of Astronomy 2009 and Beyond, an international, United Nations sponsored international year. Galileoscope is an award-winning Cornerstone Project of the International Year. To date, over 200,000 have been delivered to 106 countries. Operated as a benefit, and managed by volunteers, Galileoscope is able to supply these telescope kits at a low price. Instructions, educational materials, teacher guides, observing guides, and other ancillary materials are available for free download from the Galileoscope website, http://galileoscope.org. Galileoscope also offers training programs for teachers and education and outreach professionals (http://galileoscope.org/workshops). The Galileoscope is a supplied as a kit, allowing users to learn how optics operate and how telescopes work. The materials are of very high quality - with excellent optics. Designed to be a telescope for today and the future, the Galileoscope will accept any accessory available in the telescope and astronomy market. Galileoscope is partnered with Astrosphere New Media on the Telescopes4Teachers donation program (www.telescopes4teachers.org). Astrosphere accepts tax-deductible contributions and will donate Galileoscope to the school/teacher the donor designates.
