The mission of Gallatone Records is to create and maintain a student-run record label that releases music by NYU students to the student body and beyond.We release annual compilations of original student music on iTunes to showcase our community's songwriters and musicians. These record releases are celebrated with shows at legendary music venues like The Bitter End and The Studio @ Webster Hall, where selected Gallatone artists perform. Promotions for the compilations have included vendor tours, social networking, and featuring artists on our website and in student-operated blogs and magazines.Subsequently, Gallatone may use the profits to fund albums spotlighting specific Gallatone artists. These services will include full-scale artist development: fine tuning the creative and business endeavors of an artist from pre-release to product development.As such, Gallatone functions as a self-sustaining, non-profit organization, which gives students the opportunity to run a record label, express their creative voices, and share their musical interests.
