Sports - Glen Rock, New Jersey, United States
This corporation is specifically formed to: Transform the recreational area known as "Lower Farber Field" to a state-of-the-art turf field complex in partnership with the Borough of Glen Rock and other non-profit community groups. The corporation, Game On Glen Rock (GOGR), will serve as the project lead, and custodian of all collected funds, in the planning and execution of this first identified improvement project. This particular project will include, but may not be limited to: Football, soccer, lacrosse, and baseball fields—each utilizing brand new artificial turf surfaces that are environmentally friendly and virtually maintenance free. This will reduce costs to the Borough each year and increase league playing time that is otherwise lost due to ongoing, excessive ground water and subsequent cancellation of team sporting events. An artificial turf field reduces the town's costs for maintaining the field by eliminating the need for clay, seed and fertilizer for 5 acres, tractor and fossil fuel use. A Rain Water Harvesting System will be installed to ensure proper drainage and eliminate any threats of local flooding, particularly that of a field adjacent stream. This water capture system will be capable of holding as much as 90,000 gallons of rainwater. Installing such a harvesting system will enable GOGR to provide the recycled water for irrigation needs for other local athletic fields, offer a critical water supply for the local volunteer fire department to keep their trucks ready for action, and, potentially sell captured water to a for-profit company of some kind to further sustain the efforts of our organization. GOGR will manage the distribution and potential sale of captured and stored water. GOGR shall form partnerships with local businesses and corporations to fund some expenses of this project. The fields will offer naming rights and sponsorship opportunities. Additionally, GOGR will actively pursue foundation grant support.
