The Gateway Medical Society was established in Pittsburgh in the 1950's, as a component of the NMA. Membership is open to physicians who are licensed to practice medicine in the state of Pennsylvania.The mission of this organization shall be to promote the health care and general welfare of minority and socio-economically challenged populations in Southwestern Pennsylvania through education, advocacy, and health policy; and, to promote health and wellness, eliminate health disparities and sustain physician viability.
