Gayle Madeira is an award-winning painter, dancer and choreographer based in New York City. Her paintings have been exhibited at The Foundation Gallery, The National Arts Club, The Salmagundi Club, Williamsburg Art and Historical Center, Sylvia Wald and Po Kim Gallery, Howland Cultural Center and New York Hall of Science and are included in numerous private and institutional collections. In 2009 she was a finalist in the Artist's Magazine's 26th Annual Art Competition and was Artist-of-the-Month in Feb. 2010. Her paintings are featured in the film "Prayer to a Vengeful God" and in North Light Books' "Strokes of Genius 5: Best of Drawing/Composition." In Aug/Sept 2013 Gayle had a solo gallery show at The Foundation Gallery in New Orleans. Gayle began dancing 38 years ago and received a BFA from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase. She has toured extensively nationally and internationally as a dancer and choreographer with many ballet and modern dance companies including her own. She has performed Argentine Tango with Artem Maloratsky, Sid Grant (Mad, Hot Ballroom), Carlos Vera (Forever Tango), Lexa Roséan, Raul Cabral, Anton Gazenbeek, Jorge Juanatey, Monica Paz and Walter Zylinski. Madeira won the 2011 U.S. Tango Championship in the salon category with partner Sid Grant and the 2008 U.S. Tango Championship with partner Lexa Roséan. She also won Opera Online's "Best Choreography" award for choreography of "The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny" for Opera Boston.
