Generation Vote (GenVote) is a progressive advocacy movement that empowers youth to be agents of change in local electoral politics. Our three pillars for empowering youth are: 1) Educate. We will provide experiential education to teach and train young people how to be effective electoral activists in their local communities. This includes but is not limited to conducting student opinions research, informative workshops on youth issues, formation of a student policy agenda, voter registration, etc. 2) Mobilize. We will engage young people on issues that matter to them and empower them to change the current political system to reflect their values and beliefs. This is where students mobilize around candidates and policies that align with their interests and support their causes. The power of real change lies in the students because they will be the ones endorsing the candidates. Once candidates are elected into office, they will be held accountable for implementing their campaign policies. 3) Connect. We will create a wide and connected network to bring young activists together. This network will allow them to share their ideas and have them collaborate with one another on bringing about the change they seek. An online community via a website and mobile app will be created to link students across different college campuses.
