We are a Young Researcher Initiative for Open Dialogue on Novel Plant Breeding Techniques and the Policy thereof.Our current mission is to give a voice to young researchers and students regarding NPBTs and their policy within Europe. Moreover, we are aiming to increase public engagement. The reason for the start up of this initiative is the amount of gaps between policy, technology and public perception of the techniques in plant breeding. There are many inconsistencies in policy compared to technological advances, and a large part of the public cannot openly discuss genetic editing techniques due to miscommunication, one-way communication and emotional polarization. We aim to make a difference in the latter.One of our core goals are: - to write a white-paper to the EU Commission with advice on how to proceed public engagement and policy regarding Novel Plant Breeding Techniques on behalf of those who are unheard: the next generation of plant scientists, breeders, farmers etc.- to inform the public and have active and open dialogues, creating understanding and transparency between science and society.Feel free to follow us in our endeavors to open up communication and discussion on Plant Breeding Techniques.
