GEOptimize is a consulting firm that specializes in commercial and district ground source heat pump (GSHP) systems. GSHP systems are a type of heating and cooling system or ‘renewable/green energy' that eliminate fossil fuel energy usage and convert buildings to electricity energy consumption. GSHP systems are composed of heat pumps and a ground heat exchanger. The most common types of ground heat exchangers are vertical plastic pipes embedded several hundred meters in the ground called boreholes. Heat exchange fluid is circulated through the plastic pipes and to the heat pumps which use the refrigeration process to heat and cool buildings. The plastic pipes touching the soil either inject or extract heat from the ground which is at a constant temperature. GSHP systems also allow owners to reduce overall energy consumption due to increased efficiencies which ultimately saves the owner on annual energy costs. Since GSHP systems are a relatively new and complex technology, GEOptimize works internationally assisting engineering firms in design and installation of such systems. Throughout the design process, Geoptimize will assist from the feasibility stage, all the way through to managing and monitoring the system. GEOptimize also works as building owners representatives to consult with building architects for the most energy efficient design. If GSHP systems fail, 10-20 years after being built, Geoptimize performs forensic analysis on such projects.
