The Georgetown Business Association (GBA) is a non-profit membership organization committed to maintaining and improving the climate for conducting business in Georgetown. We have four principal goals: Representing the Georgetown Business Community Georgetown businesses and professionals are part of a larger Georgetown and District-wide community. The GBA serves its members by representing their interests at community meetings with residents, with the Metropolitan Police Department, and with other District officials. Monitoring Legislation Affecting Georgetown Businesses and Professionals Each year, the DC City Council considers legislation that directly or indirectly affects Georgetown businesses and professionals. This legislation pertains to such issues as business and real property taxation, parking, alcohol beverage control, business licenses, and historic preservation. Promoting Georgetown as a Place to Visit and Do Businesses Georgetown is known worldwide for its historic residences, a first-class university, and its fine shops and restaurants. The GBA develops programs to promote Georgetown so that it will remain a premier visitor destination. Promotional activities include seasonal special events, regional advertising campaigns, and the Georgetown Visitor Guide and Map Project. Communicating with the Membership Communication is the key ingredient for effective representation in a membership organization.
