Funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, and the Provincial and Municipal governments, GTTI established the GTTI Skilled Trades Institute to offer training to 240 students per year in eight residential construction trades, including, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Carpentry, Cabinetry, Flooring, Roofing and Drywall.As part of the curriculum and in partnership with multiple housing organizations within the province, students will be building and finishing bungalows to be offered as affordable housing within Georgina, York Region and surrounding areas. Through this innovative training model, all graduates of GTTI Skilled Trades Institute will have required basic safety and soft skills training and be job-ready or go on to further apprenticeship training.
