Getting Back Up seeks to help those living with a spinal cord injury by improving their quality of life TODAY. The focus is on providing goods and services which can help make a difference in someone's immediate situation. Unfortunately, health and medical insurance often fail to provide individuals with the tools they need to truly improve their quality of life. Getting Back Up exists to help bridge that gap. The organization provides qualified and selected individuals with funding for the purchase of adaptable products and participation in exercise-based recovery programs. These programs and products have been proven to greatly improve the physical and emotional well-being of the injured individual.Support, Education, Awareness and Research as it relates to spinal cord injuries are at the core of Getting Back Up's mission.Getting Back Up was founded in 2011 by Scott Fedor after he sustained a complete spinal cord injury in July 2009 as a result of a diving accident. While living in a nursing home all of his physical therapy services were discontinued by his insurance. He was left to rely on the generosity of others to get the therapy services and products he needed to continue on his road to recovery.Getting Back Up is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designated by the Internal Revenue Code.
