Football. Education. Opportunity.Academy 11 Ghana was founded in 2011 to strengthen and develop football academies in Ghana, Africa. We have links with several academies in Accra, Ghana's capital city, and we are registered as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in the USA. We look to help young people in Ghana in 3 ways:Football - Football, soccer, the beautiful game! Whatever you call it, it is a major passion and facet of daily life in Ghana. Many young children have the dream of becoming a professional player and spend most of their free time with a ball at their feet. The game connects our volunteers with young people in Ghana and we look to support and channel their love for it.Education - Education is important for everyone and we help to educate in various ways. We educate players and coaches within the game, developing curriculum, passing on teaching methodology, delivering sessions and so on. We support schools and stress the importance of an off-field education as a Plan B for all players, as turning professional is very difficult. We also spread awareness of the rogue agents and illegal academies that try to lure potential players to fake trials with the promise of a position with a European club. We educate players on the correct pathway of how to follow their dreams.Opportunity - Some of the players we have worked with have followed their dreams in the proper channels. For some, that meant having tryouts in countries such as Italy, the Netherlands and Cyprus. For others, that was turning professional in Germany. For others, it meant a position at a High School or College in the USA. For many, it just may be to gain confidence and satisfaction from playing the game while gaining a solid education. With a supportive network and a nurturing environment, young people can flourish and opportunities will present themselves.
