G&D Security Card Systems (G&D SCS) is a full service supplier to the plastic card industry. Growth and Success G&D SCS originated in 1962 as Dashew Business Machines (Canada) Ltd. It became Security Card Systems in 1971 when Agency Press Inc. purchased the company from its U.S. parent. With VISA certification attained in 1968 and MasterCard certification in 1973 the organization set the foundations for its position as Canada's largest card manufacturer. For a period of time the company was owned by British American Bank Note Inc. and was a member of the BCE group of companies. In April of 1989 SCS became a privately-held company. In December of 1995, SCS was purchased by Giesecke & Devrient GmbH(G&D), established 140 years ago, a world leader in the areas of cards, card systems, currency manufacturing and currency processing equipment. The Group of G&D companies is presently operating internationally, with headquarters in Munich and subsidiaries located in Belgium, Greece, Mexico, Spain, the USA and Canada. G&D also has joint ventures operating in China, Egypt, Russia and Australia.
