Formed in 2007 the Gippsland Climate Change Network Inc. (GCCN) a not-for-profit organisation, has delivered a range of local projects and provided support for climate change modification. GCCN provides feedback for many local council policies and projects working closely with LG Sustainability Officers, Gippsland Waste and Resource Recovery Group, the State Government through DELWP and Sustainability Victoria, the Latrobe Valley Authority, Green Alliance and over 30 community organisations.Sustainability Victoria has recently announced support for the establishment of seven Community Power Hubs across Victoria including one in Gippsland Region. The Gippsland Climate Change Network is the lead partner organisation working with its partners, Energy Innovation Cooperative and the Mallacoota Sustainable Energy Group. The Gippsland Community Power Hub (GCPH) will be one of the most important platforms for communities in Gippsland to move towards a renewable energy system. Working at the grass roots level, empowering our local communities with the knowledge and support they need is crucial as we make the transition to a low carbon, clean energy future. This project is delivered by Sustainability Victoria on behalf of the Victorian Government. We are working on a range of carbon cutting initiatives including the Energise Gippsland Solar Program, Energise Gippsland Renewable Fund, Research into Biomass and Reusing and Recycling Solar Panels.
