Adolescence is a critical time in the development of a young woman. Unique ideas continue emerging, goals are made, and passion for the future begins.Unfortunately, not many girls have a mentor who can show them the value and importance of empowerment. The National Report on the State of Self-Esteem by the Dove Self-Esteem Fund says that 7 out of 10 girls "believe they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way". This lack of confidence at such an important time holds these girls back and can have negative long term consequences on their professional development. Being mentored by a successful woman in the working world can put into perspective how achievable goals can be, and how important it is to believe in yourself and be confident. This program aims at pairing young women in High School with fulfilled professionals, to help them be guided through anything they need such as applying to their first job, writing a CV, getting ready for an interview, etc. The pair of women meet and exchange contact information, get together once a month at a preferred location and communicate over the phone/via e-mail whenever is needed in between. Events for all the girls such as seminars, talks and other activities will also be available. Our goal is to reach as many young girls in the city of Montreal as possible and to match them with a mentor that is the best possible fit.
