Girls Coding Kosova Details
Girls Coding Kosova's mission is to encourage women to reach their full academic and professional potential in technical fields. Its network spans across all municipalities in Kosovo and includes over one thousand (1000) active young members aged between fifteen (15) and twenty-five (25). GCK is constantly working on bringing events to the young and enthusiasts girls of Kosovo to encourage them to code, launch companies or work as developers in other exciting startups in the country. Our vision is to create a free-of-gender-bias IT sector in Kosovo and the Balkan Region by:- Increasing the number of interested women in technology/programming- Expanding number of women to consider programming as an academic profession- Increasing the number of entrepreneurial women in innovative fields using coding and programming.- Encouraging young girls' early exposure to coding and software programmingOur programs ensure that the participation of young women beneficiaries is not limited to that of passive attendance: they will have an active role in designing, implementing, and leading end-product dissemination activities.Girls Coding Kosova (GCK) will provide technical support as well as access to their network of young women in technology. In order promote a multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving, select GCK members will serve as tech ambassadors disseminating concepts of how citizens involved in different sectors can benefit from and contribute to technology for social good.Social impact and positive contributions to city-level governance and effectiveness will be presented as the ideal platform for exposing one's skills thus encouraging contributions in this field from tech and open source communities.
