Mental Healthcare - Bethesda, MD, US
Give an Hour™ is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), founded in September 2005. The organization's mission is to develop national networks of volunteers capable of responding to both acute and chronic conditions that arise within our society.Currently, GAH is dedicated to meeting the mental health needs of the troops and families affected by their time in service, individuals impacted by natural or man-made disaster, and Hospital Heroes supporting the COVID19 pandemic. We provide counseling to individuals, couples and families, and children and adolescents. We offer treatment for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injuries, sexual health and intimacy concerns, and loss and grieving. In addition to direct counseling, Give an Hour's network of volunteer mental health professionals are working to reduce the stigma associated with mental health treatment by participating in and leading education, training, and outreach efforts in schools and communities. GAH's Campaign to Change Direction has created a common language that allows us to recognize five key signs of emotional suffering in ourselves and others and encourages us to care for our mental well-being and the mental well-being of others. Currently, our network of licensed mental health professional includes nearly 4,500 psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, marriage and family therapists, drug and alcohol counselors, pastoral counselors, and other professional counselors.
