Education Management - Lunenburg, Massachusetts, United States
Our mission is to inspire healthier and happier eating habits across America. We are working tirelessly to fulfill this mission by giving talks at schools, traveling to schools to help build gardens, and by creating online tools for the implementation and continued maintenance of school gardens. With this, our goal is to deliver to students foundational nutrition principles and the skills with which to create one's own food security that they can carry with them into adulthood. This will lead to more positive changes in the way that people in the U.S. approach health and nutrition. We believe that a healthy life begins with healthy food choices and an awareness of the positive impact these healthier choices can make on people's lives. Therefore, we focus on inspiring people to build healthy eating habits and introduce them to the fun and fulfilling nature of growing one's own food. We travel the country and provide in person and virtual programs that center around basic nutrition and gardening to schools and communities. We design, source materials, and help implement gardens at qualifying schools. To do this, we provide in person and extensive online educational materials including, but not limited to, how to successfully grow a garden, as well as provide online follow up support for maintenance and long term success. We aim to improve the nutrition of the youth of the country, teach about where food comes from, and foster interest in growing healthy food for oneself and one's community. Any organization who creates garden spaces for schools provides that community with increased environmental sustainability, but something that is often lacking is the sustainability of the gardens themselves. Many lie unused just years after being set up. That is why we focus so much on the long term maintenance of our garden spaces.
