Shawn Fornari, originally from Western Pennsylvania has been a film director since he was 8 years old. Mr. Fornari found himself running around town, making movies with the neighborhood kids and this attraction would soon lead the young twenty-one year old kid to New York City for an internship with American Masters at WNET/Thirteen. During his tenure at the station, he gained extensive knowledge in documentary film making and narrative storytelling. He was a production assistant on several biographies one of which was of the late "Rod Serling of The Twilight Zone". "I learned quickly that it takes a lot of hard work, long hours and talented people to complete a project", he said. In 1994, Mr. Fornari moved to Florida where the film director would work for both Disney and Universal Studios in a variety of production capacities. During his six years in Florida, Mr. Fornari had earned a reputation for being one of the top Assistant Director's in the state. "Being a 1st. Assistant Director helped me think on my feet as a director. I am fast and know how quickly I can get through a scene. I can work under limited budgets and extreme deadlines because of the experience I had as a 1st. AD", Mr. Fornari stated. Today, Mr. Fornari has written and directed over a dozen short films. Some of his most recent work can be seen on ifilm.com, an internet site for independent filmmakers. He also teaches American Literature and Film Workshops throughout the region. He is a member of the American Film Institute, Screen Actors Guild, National Education Association of America and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Engineers. He has a bachelor degree in Communications Media and Social Science Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master's Degree in Film from Chapman University, Southern California.
