Global Catalysts seeks to improve the economic development and environmental quality of Latin America by matching innovative, clean commercial technologies with large industrial customers all over the world to solve the biggest energy, waste, water and biotechnological problems. Latin America is an ideal market for emerging clean technologies. Their economies are growing exponentially and an evolving middle class is demanding more energy and more consumer products. New environmental regulations are being imposed as the economies mature. Currently, there are not sufficient new commercial technologies available to solve production problems, supply chain bottlenecks, or adaptation to new environmental regulations. There is almost no tradition of open innovation within the family owned companies which would allow them to developer or source technologies. Global Catalysts, is essentially acting as an outsourced corporate innovation or venture service for these companies.
