Global Health Leaders (GHL) is a visionary new public-private initiative of the Public Health Institute. GHL incorporates the best practices and thought leadership of the public health and private sectors to develop a framework for establishing public-private partnerships that build competencies and capacity to address public health challenges for vulnerable populations in the United States and internationally. This new corporate fellowship program, modeled after the Global Health Fellows Program II, trains public health professionals and places them within philanthropic units in their home country. Global Health Leaders' first partnership is with Medtronic Communities Foundation. This initiative, designed to combat noncommunicable diseases globally, will establish a blueprint for future partnerships that can be replicated in many other areas of public health.
