Global Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (GITH) is a professional institute with a vision of ensuring total human capital development and management. The need for a professional training Institute to provide necessary skills and developmental programmes that will motivate individuals, corporate organizations and government of African countries to harness their travel, tourism and hospitality potentials as a region of the world where the sector could dictate the pace of economic growth and development, gave rise to what is now recognized as the Global Institute of Tourism and Hospitality of Nigeria (GITH) RC 983989. A search through educational institutions in Africa revealed that there were very few involved in training tourism and hospitality professionals.Where they existed at all, the programmes they run only provide basic skills for the individual. This then raised a question: "Travel, tourism and hospitality industry is capable of providing the antidote for the ailing economies of Africa. How?" It looked as if we knew what we wanted but we have not been able to get it because we did not necessarily know how.Where we did, then it means we have not employed the appropriate measure to get it. Another is the need to package travel, tourism and hospitality as the most essential non-oil product and market it so vigorously that the attention of the world would be focused there truly as the way forward.GITH sees the need to pursue the way forward for Africa through organized and properly packaged Travel, tourism and hospitality industry.GITH also considers the need to corroborate the quest for training and organized developmental programes for individuals,organized private sector, educational research institutions and governments of Africa to provide skilled manpower for the travel, tourism and hospitality industry so as to enhance efficient and effective utilization of human and natural resources for economic,social and political benefits of the African continent.
