Nonprofit Organization Management - Phnom Penh, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Global Peace Alliance - Cambodia is a local not-for-profit organization aims to empower youth, and women, by connecting them with education and environment, which are a crucial contribution to peace-building. The organization was first formed by a group of Global Peace Youth volunteers, under the support of an International non-profit organization known as, Global Peace Foundation. One of the signature projects of Global Peace Alliance Cambodia is the Basic English Language Instruction (BELI), and the Environmental Education Project (EE), both of which aim to empower young people in Cambodia through volunteerism as teaching volunteers, and provide access to crucial education to 7 public primary schools students in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Our experience working with these public primary schools has allowed us to witness that none of the schools has the capacity to provide their students a safe source of daily drinking water. Understanding the importance of safe water in the lives of young students in Cambodia, means pledging ourselves to the world's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as adopted by 193 Member States of the United Nations, including Cambodia, Global Peace Alliance Cambodia is initiating a new project known as, Safe Water Safe Bottle Project. We want to establish safe drinking water facilities and provide ONE reusable water bottle to each student at all the nine schools that we have worked with. Therefore, this project addresses achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health), Sustainable Development Goal 4.7 (Education for Sustainable Development) and Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) in support of the Agenda. Through this project, GPA-Cambodia sees the potential in achieving more than just one goal, including, Provision of Safe Drinking Water, Personal Hygiene and Sanitation, Environmental Awareness, and Enhance the Household Economy.
